How does an analytic scientist become open to ideas on altered states of consciousness and alternative medicine? 

Here are some of more interesting ideas that I've found in my travels. You'll come across all sorts of fringe topics - altered stated of consciousness by synchronising your brainwaves, electronics and software projects, and, if possible, lots of practical "how-to" info.

I've got a scientific and technical background (which you may think is a disadvantage) so I suppose I'm fairly skeptical. Some of these areas are pretty way out, but if you take a look you'll see why they've been included.   

Although an explanation of how something works is nice, I'm more likely to be convinced something is worth investigating if it's be in some way beneficial  and repeatable!
